Effective July 1, 2011 - New Activations or Upgrades to Existing service are subject to a Telecommunications service fee as described below:
- 1 phone request: $25.00
- 2 or more phone requests: $25.00 for the first request, $5.00 each additional request

DOIT State Contracted Services
In February 2009, Governor M. Jodi Rell ordered a series of measures to reduce spending on cellular services, including a freeze on any and all new cellular phone service for executive branch agencies, cancellation of all non-essential cellular services, and a transition of remaining services to more cost effective plans.
DOIT completed negotiations for lower wireless rates with the ability to save the state money. The lower rates and a simplified plan offering is now available from Sprint/Nextel, designated the State’s service provider for wireless services, for phones and data devices (i.e., Blackberry).
The university may order other Sprint/Nextel devices, contact UITS Cellular Support by email to cellular@uconn.edu or call (860)486-4357.
