UITS PDA/SmartPhone Considerations

The list below was put together to help you when considering the purchase of a PDA/SmartPhone to connect with UITS Exchange.

Keep in mind UITS supports only those devices purchased through Telecommunications for business use only.

Cellular Carriers

The University of Connecticut has cellular service with three cellular carriers.

• AT&T (Cingular)
• Sprint/Nextel
• Verizon

Rate Plans

Be sure you chose the appropriate data plan. All devices purchased through UITS-Telecommunications needing data service use the "unlimited data" rate plan through the chosen carrier. Visit our Rate Plan web page.

Operating Systems

PDA/SmartPhones should use one of the following operating systems:

• Windows 5.0 or newer
• PocketPC 2002
• PocketPC 2003
